Nurturing Monet's Garden
Elizabeth Murray
Elizabeth Murray quit her dream job to volunteer in Monet's garden in Giverny, France. Her family thought she was mad to leave her cushy horticulture job in California on a verbal promise for free room and board. But Elizabeth says her urge to work there was unbreakable. She talks to Dick Gordon about what it meant to her to toil in Monet's garden, and how she came to more deeply appreciate the scenes of abundance in his art. This story originally aired on 10/30/09.

Lessons from a Master
Chris Nissen
Chris Nissen was an art school student trying to establish himself as an artist, and not having a lot of luck. One day Chris and his art school friends were out searching for landscapes to paint, when they realized they were near the home of the famous, but publicity-shy artist, Andrew Wyeth. They decided to take a chance and knocked on his door. The door opened for only a few seconds, but that short exchange would be the beginning of an adventure that shaped Chris' entire career. Chris talks with Dick about the life lesson he learned from Andrew Wyeth. This story originally aired on 8/31/09.
