The Things Between Us
Lee Montgomery
A few years back, writer Lee Montgomery wrote an essay about her loopy, alcoholic mother.
The essay ended up being published. To Lee's horror, her mother just happened to read the essay. All she said to Lee was, "You write very well."
Later on, when Lee's mother discovered that she was about to appear in print again as a central character in Lee's new memoir, "The Things Between Us," she asked her daughter, "Do I come off better in this one?" Lee Montgomery's mother has now passed away. As has her father. Dick talks to her about reconciling herself with both her parents and the rest of her family.
