Cleaning Up Foreclosure

Cleaning Up Foreclosure

The spike in home foreclosures is something Mimi Norris knows intimately - she inspects and cleans houses that have been foreclosed.

When a lender tries to contact a mortgage holder and receives no reply, Mimi drives out to the house to find out why. If the owner has fallen behind on payments and moved out in a hurry, it's Mimi's job to clean up whatever is left behind.

She got into the work for a very personal reason - it was a creative way to get a date. Years later, Mimi has seen it all - including mold and Doberman Pinschers.

My Coma

Shiow-Jiau Yung was crossing the street one day seven years ago in Champaign, Illinois when she was hit by a pickup truck. She was in a coma for three days and didn't fully regain consciousness for three weeks. These days, the incident is mostly a source of jokes for Shiow. But she also tells Dick Gordon that the experience opened her eyes to kindness in people, even in those she barely knew.
