Recovering From The Storm

Recovering From The Storm

My-The Van Pham has recently moved into a new house. That's quite a feat considering she lives in Pass Christian, Miss., the epicenter of Hurricane Katrina. Her story is dramatic: My-The decided to ride out the hurricane on the family shrimp boat, and she was lucky to survive. Then she had to bolster her courage once more and ask for help, something totally alien to her character. She went to a local not-for-profit agency and found the help she needed.

Amy Hardee, who runs the agency, joins the conversation. Her friendship with My-The has become a model to assist others in the Vietnamese community build new homes.

Broken Phonograph

George Glastris made his biggest mistake on the first day of a dream job he landed right out of college.

He was at a top auction house in London and his first task was to put away a very rare and very large Edison phonograph from 1890. But George ended up dropping it.

Although he's still clumsy, Bill turned his embarrassment into a lifelong passion. He now owns 25 vintage phonographs, and he's still in search of the one he dropped to add to his collection.
