In the next few months, as many as 17,000 Americans troops will be moved to Afghanistan. That will bring the total US involvement there to 55,000. It's a war in a country that President Obama says is worth fighting for, but it doesn't come without risk.
That's something Brian Childs understands well. In 2004, Brian was a commercial pilot with a good job when he decided to join a nonprofit airlift group. He was assigned to Afghanistan. Two years later he transferred to Iraq, where he faced harrowing conditions and came closer to war than he had ever imagined he would. He tells Dick Gordon about how his experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq changed his views, and what he's now doing to make a difference.
