Jerry Solom has heard stories on this program about people who have unexplained passions, and he decided to share his own story. Jerry grew up about as far away from the ocean as you can get, but for some reason, he had always thought about sailing to his parent's birth country, Norway.
One afternoon, Jerry drove past a sailboat for sale, and on an impulse decided to buy it. After getting the boat home, Jerry realized it wasn't big enough to make a trip to Norway. He knew he didn't have enough money to buy another one. So, he decided to build his own. It took him eight years, and caused some consternation among his neighbors, but Jerry finished, and set sail to Norway. He talks with Dick Gordon about how it felt to launch his boat for the first time, and where his boat has taken him over the years.
