A New Life After The War

When the war in Iraq began six years ago, Alaa Majeed discovered her passion: working as a translator and journalist. The problem was, her family and husband disapproved. They told her she should stay at home with her two sons. Alaa's work eventually led her to leave Iraq and come to the United States, but she had to do it in secret, leaving her boys behind.

Alaa talks with Dick Gordon about what she went through to claim her freedom - and how she finally managed to get her sons Yousef and Mohammed out of Iraq to join her in New York.
