Facing The Senate

Judge Sonia Sotomayor takes the next step today towards becoming a Supreme Court Justice of the United States. It's the first day of her Senate confirmation hearing.

Dick Gordon talks with two women who have been in that hot seat. In 1992, Donna Shalala was picked by President Clinton to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Christine Todd Whitman was chosen by President George W. Bush to head the EPA in 2001. The two women talk with Dick about the intense vetting and preparation that goes on prior to the hearing, and what it's like to answer questions in that intense media and political spotlight.
