Meeting General Patton

Today marks the observance of Memorial Day. In April, Elmer "Lindy" Linenberger shared his story of surviving the Dust Bowl in Kansas. Today on the program, Lindy takes us back to his service in World War II’s Battle of the Bulge. Lindy was all of nineteen when he had a memorable exchange with General George S. Patton. Shortly after that, hundreds of German soldiers surrendered to Lindy’s command. Lindy was never awarded the medals he should have received for his bravery. Recently, those medals were awarded to him.
