The Spill In The Gulf

Today, three people comment on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Colonel Daniel Bordelon, the Commander of the Engineer Task Force with the Louisiana National Guard, joins Dick Gordon from the Breton Sound Marina in  Hopedale, La. Michael Ziccardi, director of The Oiled Wildlife Care Network (OWCN), talks with Dick about his group's efforts to relocate to the disaster zone, preparing to deal with the animals that will soon be covered in oil.

Dick also talks with David Morris. David is an Emergency Response consultant specializing in oil spills. Since the 1980s, he's worked on more than 200 oil spills - offshore, on land, and from pipelines. He usually finds himself at the Emergency Command Post. There he brainstorms about where the oil spill will travel, how to stop it from reaching the shoreline where it causes the most damage, and how to contain it if it does reach shore.
