IKEA HEARTs RUSSIA

When Swedish businessman Lennart Dahlgren moved to Moscow as the first general manager of IKEA in Russia, he had only a vague idea that corruption and bribes were part of doing business there.  But Lennart and IKEA had a different idea…be totally transparent and do everything above board. No pay-offs. Lennart is now retired - and he has written a memoir of his time in Russia, called “Despite Absurdity: How I Conquered Russia While It Conquered Me.”

OPEN MIC: UNUSUAL SPORTS

One question we asked recently on the program was about sports you have a passion for that you have to explain to people. One of our listeners in Florida called in with her passion: for paddle boarding. Today, two more listeners, and 2 more unusual sports.

NOAH Z. JONES GOES TO HOLLYWOOD

Until recently, Noah Z. Jones was a freelance illustrator and stay-at-home dad living on the coast of Maine. One day he created a website, Almost Naked Animals. Someone at Disney got turned on to Noah’s work. Soon, Noah and his family moved to L.A. where Noah could work full time on a new animated series. “Fish Hooks” debuted this fall on the Disney Channel.
