WOUNDED WARRIORS AND ART

A new program at Fort Bragg aims to rehabilitate wounded soldiers by putting art brushes in their hands.  When Soldier Ivan Pineiro received a shoulder injury in Iraq, he thought his ability to create art was over. Then he met Craig Bone. Craig is an artist, who also found his way back to art after a wartime injury. The two men are now creating art together through the Wounded Warriors program.

LISTENER FOLLOW-UP: ANIMAL HOARDING

Earlier this month, Dick talked with Jen Blood. Jen had fallen for a guy she met online. Turns out, the man was an animal hoarder. Many listeners contacted us after that story ran. But one note caught our eye. It was from a woman named Laura. Now, Laura is a landlord - and she’s worried that if we reveal her last name, no one will ever want to rent from her. After you hear this story, you’ll understand why.

NEXT CHAPTER: PRAYERS OF A BULLIED BOY

In Massachusetts, a 15 year old girl committed suicide after relentless cyber bullying. Headlines like that one reminded us of a young man we had on the program four years ago. At the time Terrance Mensah was 11 years old, and he was being bullied. Today, Terrance is in high school. We checked in to see how things turned out.

Our Open Mic line continues to brim with stories of coincidence. Here’s one from Oklahoma.  A family legend…and the quirky way “Blanche” comes to know the truth about her first name.
