The Real Face of Health Care

THE REAL FACE OF HEALTH CARE

They say that it’s hard to get doctors to practice in rural America. Sister Anne Brooks would know about that. Dr. Brooks has been running the Tutwiler Health Clinic in the heart of the Mississippi Delta for almost thirty years. She says working in one of the poorest areas of the country poses definite challenges, but the work is worth doing.

NEXT CHAPTER: LISA SHOCK

The story of Sister Ann made us think of Lisa Shock. Dick first talked with Lisa two years ago. Lisa had opened her own practice in rural North Carolina. But Lisa is not a doctor, she is a physician assistant. We wondered, did that practice survive?

THE LITTLE CHURCH THAT COULD

In the Bible, there is a passage that reads, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I will always be with them.”  This must be a comfort to Pastor Bill Whitehead. Only a very small congregation shows up at his church for Sunday services. Pastor Bill has tried knocking on doors, and now he’s branching out online.
