Inside the KKK

Produced by

Images of men in white hoods standing by a burning cross seem like something in the past - but the Ku Klux Klan is still active. James Edward Bates is a photographer who gained access to KKK meetings and he spent 13 years capturing images of members and their families. Some members welcomed him and some threatened his life. James created a collection of photographs in his effort to try to understand the modern day Klan called Passing the Torch: Documenting the 21st Century Ku Klux Klan.
