What it is Like to Go to War

Karl Marlantes was a young Marine lieutenent man when he was sent to Vietnam, and he did what he was trained to do: kill the enemy and survive. At the time, he had mere moments to decide what to do. Now, he has had forty years to consider how to describe what he experienced. Talking with Dick Gordon, he explores what it feels like to be in combat: the killing, the guilt and the enemy within.
