A Soldier's Sketchbook

New Yorker cartoonist Joseph Farris took his pencils and water colors when he arrived at the front line of World War II in October 1944. He fought with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 398th Infantry regiment, of the 100th Infantry Division. In his down time he drew foxholes, battlefields, death and survival. "A Soldier's Sketchbook" includes his art work, letters home and other items from the war.
