Jason Puracal was a real estate agent working in Nicaragua when he was wrongfully convicted of drug trafficking, money laundering, and organized crime. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison and taken to one of the worst prisons in the country, La Modelo. His sister Janis, a lawyer in Seattle, led the charge for his release which eventually occurred 2 ½ years later.
