Ride With An NYC Train Operator

When someone jumps or falls onto a New York City subway track, the driver of the train is usually powerless to stop the train without striking the person. The MTA code is 12-9. Last year, train operators saw more than 150 deaths, and many struggle to continue working after hitting or killing people. Train operator Ed Goetzle has had two 12-9s in his career, and now counsels other train operators suffering from guilt and anxiety.
