Shadow Lives

Produced by

Guest host Sean Cole explores the lives of Islamic women and men who have been rounded up, sent to prison or put under surveillance. Victoria Brittain has spent years meeting and interviewing the families of suspects imprisoned in London and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and that is the basis for her book Shadow Lives: The Forgotten Women of the War on Terror.

The interviews with prisoners and their families also became the basis for a "verbatim" play, Guantanamo, Honour Bound to Defend Freedom. We share an excerpt of the play originally produced for Sixbillion.org. Special thanks to Kelly McEvers, Nathan Deuel and Tricycle Theater.
