Fighting The Coal Plants In Chicago

Kimberly Wasserman knew the coal fired power plant in her Little Village neighborhood spewed dust all over, but it wasn't until her 3-month old baby had trouble breathing that she began to investigate. When she learned that health problems and death were tied to the smokestacks, she began going door to door for the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization. This week, she was awarded a Goldman Environmental Award for her work in shutting down the plants.
