Samir Nahi al Hasan Moqbel is one of more than 100 detainees on a hunger strike in the prison in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. He was born in Yemen, captured in 2001 in Pakistan and sent to the American Naval detention facility in 2002. He has been charged with no crime, and has been determined to be no threat to the U.S. He remains there.

On April 15, the New York Times published an essay he dictated to his lawyers through an interpreter at the legal charity Reprieve over the phone. For The Story, actor Harsh Nayyar reads the essay.

"I will not eat until they restore my dignity," al Hasan Moqbel says.
