How To Win A Green Card: Abdi’s Story Continues

Produced by

The Story has followed the life a school teacher from Somalia since 2009. Abdi Iftin described the danger of living in Mogadiushi during the war; about how he dug a hole under his bed as a shelter.

Abdi eventually left Somalia to live with his brother in Kenya and earlier this month he found out that he won a Diversity Immigrant Visa to the U.S., better known as the green card lottery. He had less than a 1 percent chance of winning.
