Remember ‘The Girls’

For writer Ann Hood, growing up in Natick, R.I., meant watching her mother and friends gather every Friday night to play poker. There was always a cloud of cigarette smoke, dressed in skirts and sweaters or velour sweat suits, and held onto their cards and coffee cans filled with pennies. In this conversation, Hood tells guest host Sean Cole about a 35-year tradition, and how it lives on.
