Olympic Medalist John Carlos supporting the wage campaign during a visit to his alma mater, San Jose State University

Fighting For A Higher Minimum Wage

Produced by

As part of a class project, a group of students at San Jose State University started a campaign to raise the city's minimum wage. They successfully persuaded the city to impose a 25% minimum wage increase, from $8 to $10 an hour. Elisha St. Laurent was a student in the class, and tells Dick Gordon she's spent years struggling to support herself on a minimum wage salary.
