Booker T. Cuts A New Record

On his new album, Sound the Alarm, Booker T. Jones makes his organ sing with the same vibrancy that it did in his 1962 hit, “Green Onions.” In this conversation with guest host Phoebe Judge, Jones tells the stories of the teacher who taught him the rules of the organ (“The biggest rule is to remember that it’s an instrument that can sing,” he says), the day he first stepped into the renowned Satellite Records, and just how “Green Onions” became a hit.

"Green Onions" by Booker T. & the M.G.'s; "Cause I Love You" by Rufus and Carla Thomas; "Your Love is No Love" by Booker T. (featuring Vintage Trouble); "Time is Tight" by Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
